A Fibroscan is a machine that measures how stiff the liver is in a totally nonevasive way.

Fibroscan measures the scarring also known as fibrosis which is essentially the result of revolved or prolonged liver injury, and the fatty changes or steatosis in your liver. When fat builds up in your liver cells it is called steatosis. Fibroscan helps by measuring the volume of fibrotic tissues in your liver and helps the doctor understand more about your liver damage.
• How is it performed?
The method is known as elastography and it is done by measuring the S-wave velocity which is passed into the liver.
